The Latest and Greatest: Innovations in teaching and Learning
The last decade has witnessed many shifts in the landscape of education. Education has become, and continues to become much more student-centered. Innovative educators are keenly aware of these changes and as such, strive to gain as much knowledge as they can from the latest trends in education. Innovative educators do not view students as passive receptors of information. Innovative educators instead view students as active participants in their learning.

Technology and the innovative 21st Century ClassRoom
One of the most significant innovations in education over the last decade has been the use of technology in the classroom. In her work Curriculum 21: Education For A Changing World (2010), Heidi Hayes Jacobs notes that “technology and social adaptations to technologies [are changing] learning and teaching. In particular, Jacobs argues that the “new power of social media and networking technologies to teach is perhaps the least leveraged technology in formal education systems today. Social networking technologies are powerful tools for enhancing the process of learning. Digital social networks may be the biggest game changer in learning and what if means to be educated” (pg. 85).
